The Board of Directors has decided that this new, more inclusive name is more reflective of our membership, which includes Active Duty, Retired, Honorably Discharged, Reservists, and Guardsmen from the four traditional Department of Defense Armed Services (US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, US Marine Corps), but also uniformed members and Veterans from the US Coast Guard (Department of Homeland Security), the US Public Health Service (USPS, US Department of Health and Human Services), and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA, US Department of Commerce).
Accordingly, we will close this website soon. All guests are invited to visit our new website, www.vausa.us, for information about our organization, membership, and activities. The Board of Directors, leadership, and vision of our organization remain steadfast.
Also, please visit our Facebook page for all of the latest updates.

Brothers and sisters,
September 27 is only weeks away…if you are in the area, please come and join us. This is the first time that we are having a banquet with full US Military protocols. The Old Guard will be our Colors Guards. We will have our parent’s generation, the Vietnam Veterans, and our children’s generation at this event. The theme is to “Honor our Past; Recognize our Present; Promote our Future.” Come to see your brothers and sisters, your uncles and aunts, and your nieces and nephews. In 10 years, if we want to honor our parents, it would be too late. They won’t be around. Let’s come together to say thanks to our parents for their sacrifices, to celebrate our accomplishments, and to recognize the next generation.
Here is the website for you to purchase the ticket:
And for each attendee, you will receive a commemorate coin. I hope that you can join us at this event.

The scholarship selection criteria and process will not change, but will simply be every two years, instead of on an annual basis. The scholarships were previously awarded in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may cause. Switching to a two-year cycle allows us to make the best use of our precious volunteer time, preserve our financial resources, and ensure that we select those candidates who best exemplify the excellence, service, and leadership that VAAFA and our Fallen Heroes stand for.
Our next scholarship fundraising and Fallen Heroes tribute banquet will be in the fall of 2014 at a time and location to be determined.
In the meantime, please keep checking this website and our Facebook page for the very latest updates regarding the scholarship and the banquet.
Faithfully at your service,
VAAFA Executive Committee
