IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT-VAAFA is not part of USVAVA (Hội Cựu Quân Dân Việt Mỹ và Đồng Minh)

IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  We recently discovered that the United States Vietnamese American Volunteers Alliance (USVAVA) also known in Vietnamese as Hội Cựu Quân Dân Việt Mỹ và Đồng Minh had been posting pictures from our installation dinner on their “News” section along with other pictures of other Republic of Vietnam groups.  VAAFA does not endorse, recognize or promote this organization.  We will be sending them a request for them to remove our pictures from their website or to put a disclaimer that VAAFA does not endorse, promote or recognize the legitimacy of the organization, so as to not mislead our community into believing that VAAFA is part of this so called alliance called “USVAVA”.  We emphasis that we do not recognize the legitimacy or endorse any groups who assign “military” ranks, self promote to its members who have no affiliation with the Department of Defense or were former members of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces member.  The “National Headquarter Staff” of this association is headed by a gentlemen who is going around giving himself “honorary” ranks above the real rank at which he is authorized by Department of Defense and US Code to wear. We believe that the actions of such groups who wear “honorary” ranks above their actual retired, separated, or former pay grade is an affront to those who have served and died in the Armed Forces of the United States and in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Vietnam. Especially those who seek to assign “ranks” for respect and honor.  Honor & Respect is earned through military service, not by joining a group that assigns you a “rank”.
